Matthew Reilly, a Wisconsin native, is a formally trained artist having graduated from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) in 1985 with a BFA in Drawing and Printmaking. He is also a professionally trained cabinetmaker and carpenter and owns Matthew Reilly Carpentry based in the greater Milwaukee area. Matthew’s artistic philosophy relates to an expression of movement and color as a gesture of self and the world around one. Artistic influences include Impressionism, German Expressionists and the Abstract Movement and Expressionists. Matthew is a current art instructor at North Shore Academy of the Arts (Grafton, WI) and guides students in Experimental Painting Techniques and Basic Drawing. He is also trade marking his signature artistic technique of “Pulled Painting” with an enamel paint medium. Current affiliations of Matthew are MIAD Alumni, The Global Arts Project, the Labax Foundation, Cedarburg Artist Guild and North Shore Academy of the Arts. Additionally, he is currently showing his art at the NSAA Arts Mill and working in the Milwaukee and Chicago areas.
